West Ridge Early Education Centre is a non-profit organization incorporated through the Ministry of the Attorney General and licensed by the Ministry of Education, governed by the Child Care and Early Years Act.
We originally opened our doors as Treasure Island Day Care Centre (TIDCC) in July of 1982 offering child care services to families in Orillia and the surrounding communities. Our Centre began at the Huronia Regional Centre in the Heritage Building and was licensed for 32 children with 5 staff members.
In July of 1996 we were offered a space at the newly designed Ontario Provincial Police Headquarters with the capacity to serve 81 children and provide employment to 12 staff members. Following a provincial security review TIDCC was asked to relocate from OPP GHQ. The province of Ontario provided TIDCC with capital funding to build the West Ridge Early Education Centre (WREEC) in 2009.
WREEC is a fully integrated setting supported by Community Living Huronia Social Services Organization, Early Intervention Program. West Ridge Early Education Centre offers care for children aged 6 weeks to twelve years of age. With the building capacity for 165 children and 38 staff members.
