Our Staff (Agency Structure)
West Ridge Early Education Centre is operated and monitored by a volunteer Board of Directors chosen from our parent population. The Board is responsible for the overall operation and direction of the centre. Their role is to make decisions consistent with the By-Laws and Standing Rules found in our Constitution. They are also the Policy and Procedure making body for the Centre.
Our Educators are responsible for providing the children with a stimulating, safe learning environment catered to the child’s individual needs, ability, and interests so they can grow to their full potential. Each staff member has been chosen based on their education and for the individual qualities they can bring to the team and the program. A large percentage of our Educators are Registered Early Childhood Educators (RECE) or Ontario College of Teachers (OCT), with the remainder having industry specific/compatible training and education. Many staff members have been with the organization for over 20 years which brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the program. We take pride that our centre provides quality education and care for the children within our care, which results in WREEC being a trusted Centre in Orillia.
The experienced Cook is responsible for all food planning and preparation; providing lunch, morning and afternoon snacks daily to all the children at the centre. Our rotational menu changes twice a year making sure to follow the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit’s Nutrition for Children in Licensed Child Care Settings guidelines. The cook also maintains a healthy, sanitary environment within the kitchen, food preparation and storage areas in order to receive a pass during our Health Inspections.
Our Executive Director (ED) is responsible for meeting the family’s needs and ensuring a quality child care setting. The ED is responsible for the centre as a whole and interacts with the children on a regular basis. The ED is also fiscally responsible to the Board of Directors for the overall Centre operations.
The Program Director is responsible for ensuring quality education occurs within the centre and overseeing the daily routine and coordination of extra-curricular activities to enhance the program. The Program Director offers support by assisting in the office with business matters related to the centre, and to program staff when required. The Program Director is also involved in monitoring staff morale and professional conduct.
Our Admissions and Scheduling Coordinator is responsible for the child staff ratios and children’s attendance. The Coordinator monitors available spaces and accepts new families when open spaces are available. This role also is responsible for ensuring the overall staffing of the facility and invoicing families.
Our Book Keeper is responsible for all accounting inquiries, year-end audit and staff payroll.
